On the road to ‘war-avoidance.’
The U.S. Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI) and the European Tactical Defense Initiative (TDI) are now expanding technology for industrial investment. The potential for applying these new scientific achievements exists in the research and development of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR).
Governor Steve Cowper’s “information gap” concerning ANWR land trades should be filled by using SDI/TDI related pulsed plasma magnetohydrodynamics (PPMHD) as the power source for electromagnetic sounding equipment. This technology is now being used in geophysical research relating to oil and mineral exploration as well as earthquake prediction.
Magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) will be the energy conversion technology of choice in the future because it converts the products of fossil fuel combustion, nuclear fission reactions or thermonuclear fusion directly into electricity, without any intermediate steam turbine cycle. The use of superior technologies in ANWR research will act as a steppingstone toward introducing new methods of energy production and related heavy manufacturing to Alaska.
MHD industrial investment is only one example of SDI/TDI technological advancement that will redefine the usable resource base thus helping to achieve war-avoidance through long-term economic friendships.
